SAMPLE MANAGEMENT

Sample Storage -

Samples are stored according to appropriate regulatory requirements for the parameters of interest until their holding time has expired or for a maximum of 60 days for those parameters with longer holding times. Samples requested to be held for periods of longer than 60 days by the client should be noted on the laboratory request form or chain of custody at the time of delivery. Sample storage charges will be assessed on those samples requested to be held for longer periods on a case by case basis. Metals analysis extracts are retained for up to 6 months from receipt, at no additional charge, at which time they are disposed of.

Sample Compositing -

Samples can be composited in the laboratory for a fee of $10.00 per sub-sample. PCS strongly recommends that client personnel perform the compositing before arriving at the laboratory, if at all possible. All samples left for compositing will be composited on an equal portion basis unless instructions are otherwise requested at the time of delivery.

Sample Disposal -

PCS will dispose of all samples in accordance with all local, state and federal regulations or return them to the customer upon completion of PCS testing services. Final sample disposition should be noted, if necessary, on the lab request form or chain of custody at the time of delivery. Clients will retain ownership of and responsibility for their samples at all times. Samples testing as hazardous will be returned to the client.

Multiphase Samples -

Samples that are multiphasic and cannot be homogenized will be separated into separate phases and analyzed as separate samples with each incurring analysis charges. The sample results will be mathematically combined and reported as a single result. The determination to proceed or terminate the analysis of samples that are multiphasic will be discussed with the client before proceeding or cost incurred.
